Este estudo objetiva relacionar a felicidade epicurista, particularmente a partir da análise da Carta a Meneceu, de Epicuro (341 a.C.-260 a. C.) ao sofrimento psíquico de pós-graduandos stricto sensu, pertencentes ao atual sistema social capitalista. A pesquisa de campo e de método mistos, utilizou como instrumento para a coleta de dados um survey interseccional, respondido por 76 discentes de um Programa de Pós-Graduação stricto sensu em Educação (PPGE), localizado no estado do Paraná-PR. A análise dos resultados ocorreu a partir do (...) conceito de felicidade expresso por Epicuro de Samos, além de pesquisadores contemporâneos que dissertam sobre o conceito de felicidade na contemporaneidade. Os resultados indicam que há uma ascendência nos casos de sofrimento psíquico dentro do ambiente acadêmico da pós-graduação, o que gera descontentamento, ansiedade e, consequentemente, infelicidade. Observou-se também que o sistema social capitalista, nos distancia da temperança, da ética e da moralidade, não obstante, também da felicidade enquanto conceito epicuriano. (shrink)

Neste artigo, ponderamos sobre a concepção educativa de Hugo de São Vítor exposta em sua obra pedagógica _Didascalicon de Studio Legendi _e temos como objetivo compreender o uso da leitura como meio de desenvolvimento do intelecto humano._ _Situados em um período de mudanças importantes para o ocidente medieval, os escritos do autor indicam, aos seus discípulos, os elementos fundamentais para se conquistar o bom estudo. Baseando-nos no conceito de longa duração, examinamos, neste trabalho, alguns aspectos educacionais-sociais importantes para a formação (...) humana contemporânea, já que a História Social nos faz compreender que presente e passado se interligam por meio de características que nos tornam humanos: a memória e os comportamentos que geram civilidade. Em nossa análise do texto, observamos que a _Sapientia_ é considerada, para o autor, como a meta principal da jornada de um estudante e, para ser possível alcançá-la, é necessário que se faça o uso adequado da Filosofia e da Ciência. Essas, por sua vez, quando amparadas pela memória, poderiam proporcionar redução do embrutecimento existente na sociedade e exercitar a amizade do ser humano com seu Criador. A escolha de um bom método de estudo e o uso da vontade também marcam esta concepção educativa medieval, que se destacou por promover a transição do modo de leitura monástico para o escolástico. _Didascalicon_ também é conhecido como um texto que transcendeu a cópia de conteúdo –– prática comum à época –– no qual seu autor expressa, de forma escrita, suas ideias (embebidas de influências agostinianas), e que busca instruir àqueles que procuram o caminho para alcançar a _Sapientia_ –– na qual habita a forma do bem perfeito. In this article I will look into Corporate Legal Responsibility taking into account Levinas’s notion of infinite responsibility, as well as his understanding of ethical language. My account of Levinas’s philosophy will show that it challenges – breaking down – deeply entrenched distinctions in the dominant strands of moral philosophy, within which the theory of individual responsibility is embedded, such as between:(1) duty to others on the one hand and supererogation on the other; (2) perfect duty to others on the (...) one hand and imperfect duties to others on the other; (3) insiders and outsiders; kith and kin on the one hand and strangers on the other; Levinas’s moral vision is an inclusive one which embraces all of humanity (at least of those present today) irrespective of historical, linguistic, cultural differences and diversities. In other words, each has responsibilities for and duties towards all others. Of course, one might say that there is nothing new about a universalising ethics – after all Kantianism, liberalism as well as utilitarianism are well known instances. However, more crucially, all these traditional moral philosophies uphold the theory of individual responsibility, which is rooted in the philosophy of individualism. Such a philosophy can make sense only of the concept of individual moral/legal agency but not corporate agency. Therefore, in this article I will attempt to show that the Levinasian vision is able to help us change our view with respect to corporate responsibility. (shrink)

Explora as noções deleuzinas sobre o cinema e problematiza elementos relacionados a indexação de filmes. Aprofunda as questões cinematográficas trabalhadas por Deleuze, que concebe dois principais regimes de imagens, compreendidos no cinema clássico e no cinema moderno. O cinema clássico é fundado na imagem-movimento, a qual submete o tempo à ação, já o cinema moderno, caracteriza-se pela imagem-tempo, a qual desvincula tempo e movimento e revela situações óticas e sonoras puras. Analisa o problema do tempo em três filmes dirigidos por (...) Michelangelo Antonini, conhecidos como trilogia da incomunicabilidade, A Aventura (1960), A Noite (1961) e O Eclipse (1962). A partir da análise de filmes sob a abordagem deleuziana é possível ampliar as dimensões presentes na indexação, tanto no processo de leitura quanto de análise do documento, considerando a dimensão do afeto. Modernity brought an impact on the Christian faith and these effects persist in Postmodernity. In the context of theology, the demand for a scientific answer for questions of modernity gave rise to research on the historical Jesus. There was an urgent need to know who is Jesus, how he lived and behaved, what his world or which words he pronounced in fact. That research was developed in distinct phases, revealing a plural understanding of Jesus. The current phase of the research (...) rediscovered Jesus as a Jew, inserted in culture and religion Jewish of his time. This has become an occasion for a return to the Jewish roots of Christianity, but also initiated a process of Judaization of the Christian faith. Badge of Judaization is the phenomenon of Messianic Judaism, currently spread worldwide. To emphasize the Jewishness of Jesus, Messianic Jews calls into question most of the Christians assertions, which developed over two millennia of Christianity, particularly, the understanding about the way of being and acting of the Messiah. The paper’s aim is to underline the growing phenomenon of categorization of EU migrants despite the existence of a common EU citizenship. It addresses legal categorization deriving from EU legislation and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union, but also factual categorization arising from host member states’ practices. The legal categorization of EU migrants reveals a clear differential treatment between economically active and inactive EU mobile citizens. Member states’ practices very often go further than legal categorization (...) by excluding poor mobile citizens, viewed as abusers of rights or as a potential threat to local public order or security. This paper also investigates the incompleteness of EU citizenship, being unable to prevent categorization of EU migrants. (shrink)

Em seguida aborda o deslizamento de planos entre Filosofia, Arte e Ciência para ser possível compreender a absorção do conceito filosófico de rizoma pela Ciência da Informação. Apresenta a organização e fluxo da informação pensados inicialmente (...) com a noção de árvore caminhando mais recentemente para a noção de rizoma ou rede. Por fim aproxima as teorizações da filosofia da diferença e da análise de discurso da escola francesa para iluminar ainda mais os mal entendidos sobre a transposição conceitual na Ciência da Informação. Esse artigo investiga como o filósofo aborda essa temática em alguns aforismos de suas obras, em especial, analisando “O canto da dança” e “O outro canto da dança” de Assim Falou Zaratustra.. Using the quasi-experimental setting of the Michael Vick dogfighting case, the researchers employed rich interview content to explore the question, “When a critical event occurs in the animal advocacy field, what motivates advocacy groups to respond?” The investigation reveals that what was thought to be one critical event was in actuality three unique yet interrelated critical events— the revelation of the transgressions; the punishment of the perpetrator; and the decision about whether to ally with the perpetrator in advocacy. The study (...) shows that legitimacy concerns, occasionally paired with reflections on organizational identity, influenced the decision-making of advocacy organizations across all three critical events, as each held the potential either to legitimize or to delegitimize the advocacy organizations and/or the perpetrator. Advance care planning (ACP) is considered a pivotal aid in the decision‐making process, especially for many people living with dementia, who inevitably will lose the capacity to make decisions at the end of life. In Italy, ACP has been recently regulated by law 219/2017, leading to the investigation of how physicians deal with ACP in dementia. In order to comprehend the perception of physicians who provide care for patients with dementia regarding ACP and to describe their difficulties and needs, this (...) study presents the results of a qualitative research study performed within a local health authority in northern Italy. Data were collected by semi‐structured interviews with 11 physicians dealing with patients with dementia and were analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. Four superordinate themes were identified, describing both the difficulties and challenges perceived by physicians in performing shared ACP in their daily activities. This study demonstrates that physicians experience troubles synchronizing the time of shared ACP with the more rapid development of dementia. Results also suggest that further training about communication on ACP is urgently required to ease the implementation of shared ACP. A broader involvement of institutions and other professionals is also important in spreading ACP among healthcare institutions. (shrink)

La notion de lieu occupe dans le système cartésien une place stratégique : elle en manifeste la singularité tant dans le domaine de la physique que dans celui de la métaphysique. En physique, les difficultés sont nombreuses : comment Descartes parvient-il à édifier une philosophie naturelle qui produit, notamment, les lois du choc et celle de la chute des graves, dans un cadre conceptuel qui nie l'existence du vide ainsi que celle de lieux différents? Jusqu'à quel point peut-on parler d'une (...) mathématisation du réel pour un corps de doctrine aussi peu algébrique que possible? Le spectre du roman cartésien doit être chassé afin de saisir la science cartésienne dans sa nouveauté radicale. Mais dès lors que l'on s'interroge sur les motifs conceptuels qui empêchent Descartes d'élaborer une mathématisation du réel, dont la Géométrie semble lui donner les moyens et les Regulae la méthode, on est conduit à préciser la nature des procédures résolutoires de la pensée, leur portée et leurs limites et, ainsi, à entrer de plain-pied dans le champ de la mathématique, tout d'abord, puis dans celui de la métaphysique. Dire ce qu'est et ce que peut un corps s'énonce à partir du savoir de ce qu'est et de ce que peut l'esprit. En effet, Descartes attribue à l'esprit la force et la puissance, non seulement d'inventer et de produire du nouveau, mais également celle, très concrète, d'imprimer une nouvelle détermination aux mouvements des esprits animaux. On peut considérer que la force chez Descartes est indexée au spirituel plutôt qu'au corporel et qu'en dehors de la question singulière de l'Eucharistie, elle n'est efficace qu'à la condition de ne pas être localisée stricto sensu en termes de lieu : Dieu agit dans le monde pour autant qu'il n'en fait pas partie et la glande pinéale est le siège principal de l'âme, sedes et non pas locus. Cette lecture de l'œuvre cartésienne trouve ainsi dans la notion de lieu un thème d'étude particulièrement fécond, dans la mesure où elle est mobilisée à la fois dans la physique et les mathématiques cartésiennes, mais également dans la question de la localisation de Dieu dans le monde, dans celle du Christ sous les espèces consacrées, et dans celle de l'âme dans le corps. Ainsi d'un lieu à un autre, nous sommes conduits au cœur du système cartésien, par un mouvement d'approfondissement réciproque des perspectives. (shrink)

Studies of religion have changed rapidly since the late 1990s. From a sociohistorical perspective of institutional change analysis, this article summaries the situation in three sections : firstly, the withdrawal of theology in homogeneous initiatory institutions ; the expansion of scientific interest in the religious ; the transition from pastoral to spiritual. Four other sections analyze the changes that the Faculty of Theology of the Université de Montréal has been going through since the 1960s. These changes constitute the barometer of (...) three major interrelated phenomena : the profound transformation of cultures in relation to religion, the clericalization of Catholic theology, and a shaking up of great classical university models. A new paradigm of critical theology in public universities is proposed here. (shrink)

Le Canada et le Québec, à l'instar des Pays-Bas, de la France et de l'Angleterre, réfléchissent sur leurs politiques publiques, face aux défis que pose la diversité ethno-religieuse. À ce titre, la notion juridique d'« accommodement raisonnable », fondamentale pour les débats canadiens, est ici explicitée, car elle constitue une clé de compréhension de cet enjeu. On compare ensuite les situations québécoises et canadiennes, à la lumière de la distinction classique entre la sécularisation et la laïcité. Dans la réaction à (...) la diversité religieuse, on peut tenir compte de certaines caractéristiques du Québec francophone, qui se rapportent à son origine franco-catholique. L'usage qu'on y fait du concept de « laïcité ouverte » mérite à cet égard un examen sérieux: il s'y dégage une conception de l'égalité à la fois réfractaire aux « privilèges » acquis des groupes religieux majoritaires et favorable à la protection des expressions religieuses individuelles brimées par les normes générales.Canada and Quebec, like the Netherlands, France and England, reflect on their public policy challenges posed by ethno-religious. As such, the legal concept of "reasonable accommodation" fundamental to Canadian debates, is explained here, because it is a key to understanding this issue. It then compares the situation in Quebec and Canada, in the light of the classical distinction between secularization and secularism. In reaction to religious diversity, one can take into account certain characteristics of Quebec French, which relate to the Franco-Catholic. The use that it makes of the concept of "open secularism" in this regard deserves serious consideration: there is always emerges a conception of equality both refractory acquired "privileges" of majority religious groups and pro- the protection of individual religious expressions bullied by general standards. A noção de informação cristalizou-se na área sob uma perspectiva da Teoria Matemática da Informação, sob o enfoque da comunicação, todavia, essa não é a única semântica possível. Gilbert Simondon utiliza o conceito de informação como elemento envolvido no processo de individuação. Em diálogo com a filosofia de Deleuze e as contribuições do pesquisador Faucher este ensaio explora a ontologia de Simondon a fim que recolocar o conceito de informação à Ciência da Informação. Para Simondon não há indivíduo físico, biológico, (...) psíquico ou social sem informação. A informação implica o devir da e na matéria. Sob tal fundamentação, a Ciência da Informação realiza-se no ciclo virtual-intensivo-atual enquanto segue a materialidade que devém na medida em que se informa e se individualiza. À Ciência da Informação é aberta a possibilidade de pensar a informação enquanto força intensiva sobre um plano imanente. (shrink)

Bringing together a genealogy of authors, concepts, and aesthetic case studies, this article aims to contribute to the discussion on ordinary aesthetics by focusing on the tensions that are intrinsic to walking as a fundamental embodied action in everyday urban life. These tensions concern the movement of walking itself and its relation to one’s surroundings, but it also concerns a certain complementarity between home (familiarity) and wandering. Experiencing space and thresholds that disrupt one’s relationship with home and the everyday can (...) be understood as part of a modern “anti-home” tendency that lies at the core of several artistic and aesthetic practices. On the other hand, the study of walking and its relationship with the ordinary has also been enhanced and complexified by the mediation of images and technologies of reproduction. Approaching the paradoxes and ambiguities of everydayness from the perspective of walking allows us to better understand the ordinary as an in-between concept composed of evidence and mystery, familiarity and strangeness. Walking itself, as an ordinary element of life, is an unstable stabilisation, an unconsciousness that may become awareness, an immersive action that knows interruptions, a way of repeating paths that can also lead to detours and discoveries. The romance customarily termed “classical” occupies a special place within Cambodian literature as a whole. The term betrays a certain Eurocentrism and is justified only because the written language of this type of text is neither the old Khmer of epigraphic inscriptions, nor modern Khmer, but the form of the language known as “middle Khmer,” which in theory designates the period from the fourteenth century through the end of the nineteenth century, and of which we have written records from the (...) eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in the romances as we know them. While these romances share one significant feature with Khmer literature as a whole, they are distinguished by other characteristics that are peculiar to them. (shrink)

Contrairement à une idée largement répandue, les femmes entraient en moins grand nombre que les hommes à l’asile, mais que leurs effectifs permanents y étaient plus importants. Les sureffectifs se fabriquaient à l’asile et la question se déplace alors sur ce qui y retenait ainsi les femmes un peu plus que les hommes, alors que médecins et familles développaient des stratégies pour faire sortir les intéressées, en particulier celles qui étaient dites « améliorées ». L’examen des processus de décisions tant (...) des sorties que des maintiens à l’asile montre que c’est l’isolement ou au contraire, l’existence de ressources familiales qui s’avèrent décisives pour une décision de sortie. Cette enquête dévoile des logiques de genre qui ne sont pas propres à l’asile et renvoient, hors asile, aux rôles sociaux féminins de cette époque, à la question de l’autonomie et surtout du manque d’autonomie des femmes qui est renforcée par l’épisode asilaire et la fragilisation sociale qui s’ensuit. This paper focuses on the set of problems regarding the HIV/AIDS crisis in the specific domain of corporate moral responsibility within a context of the Levinasian notion of proximity (infinite responsibility) and the Third. Against a totalitarian, homogeneous society, Levinas opens the way to a social pluralism, which has its sources in the disquiet provoked by the strangeness of the Other's face. Corporate responsibility, understood from this point of view, would not reduce institutional relations to an anonymous world of neutrality. (...) Corporate responsibility is unconditional in the sense that to be responsible is not a question of choice, but one of deep liberty, the liberty of taking the burden of the infinite responsibility for the Other customers, employees, the public at large and those who suffer in the world. This paper argues that it would then also mean that society (individuals, NGOs and governments) in accordance with the spirit of the Levinasian philosophy of infinite responsibility could exert pressure on corporations, such as pharmaceutical companies. Owing to their power, they could change their present responsibility policies to a more affirmative and engaged responsibility with regard to those who are ill and who suffer death or debilitation from HIV/AIDS and other prevalent diseases in the poorest parts of the world today. In the current context of re-problematization of childhood as a concrete target of philosophical reflection in educational systems, above all, there is a unique disposition to put "childish" thinking into consideration as a target of educational organization and planning. While based on another perspective, the project Philosophy in School, developed by the University of Brasilia , is one of the many experiments in approximating childhood and philosophy. Addressing some of the questions implied in the alignment between philosophy, childhood and education, (...) this essay analyzes the viewpoints of children on the experience of philosophical practice in the early grades of a public school in Brazil. In their comments, the children indicate that philosophy class is a moment in which people ‘learn’ or ‘think’ differently. What these students have learned by practicing philosophy can be spoken in the space that philosophy opens for the child’s own voice. When they talk about philosophical experience, these children testify to the mark in their learning process that the experience of a different way of thinking leaves. This new, more attentive and sensitive point of view invites us to an experience in which teaching, learning and philosophizing with childhood, become not only a possible exercise, but its principal reference. Quando Platão trata das “afecções e as formas que ela [a alma] tem na vida humana”, ele a descreve segundo um esquema tripartite, tal como aparece também na exposição dos seus gêneros na República. No Timeu, ao tomar a via mais longa para expor a natureza da alma, Platão apresenta a Ideia da alma cósmica como uma mistura de três Ideias intermediárias procedentes de um princípio bipolar. Assim como na alma do mundo, também a alma humana possui uma estrutura tripartite (...) hierarquizada segundo o mesmo princípio bipolar que governa a realidade. O artigo pretende mostrar que essas perspectivas não se contradizem, mas se completam na obra platônica. (shrink)

Este trabalho examina a questão do olhar na obra de arte a partir da fenomenologia. Investiga, a princípio, os pressupostos que, desde Platão, tornaram a imagem um elemento filosófico por excelência. A abordagem se separa da filosofia platônica e da noção de olhar como epistême e leva a discussão para o âmbito da fenomenologia de Merleau-Ponty, que pensa e compreende a realidade pelo olhar num duplo significado, que vê a si mesmo e também é visto por ele. A obra de (...) arte, nesse âmbito, não é apenas um objeto que revela algo a ser contemplado, mas entrevê e cria o próprio mundo no qual o homem ganha sentido. O artigo se divide em três tópicos: o primeiro trata brevemente da importância do olhar na mitologia grega; o segundo, expõe a concepção clássica do olhar na filosofia e o terceiro, discute a possibilidade de um olhar fenomenológico evocado pela arte.
